Grand Lake Sno Cruisers is Club No 70 in the New Brunswick Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (a volunteer organization). The club currently grooms and maintains 225 km’s of trails in Zone 7. These trails whined along the western side of Grand Lake beginning in Albrights Corner at the connection to provincial trail #15, with connections to the Village of Minto, Douglas Harbour, continuing through the Village of Chipman and northward towards Salmon River and connecting to trails in Zone 6. Our membership currently encompasses people from this and surrounding areas and we encourage anyone with interests in this area to join our club. Please feel free to see our maps page for a downloadable copy of our local trails map and contact us with any questions on planning your snowmobiling trip to our area.
Our main goal with this website is to provide our members and visitors with up to date information on the club, trail conditions and grooming activities. There are also many other features to the website with downloadable maps, news and events, photos, links and most importantly our Trails Info messages board. With this message board we encourage members and non members to register with us and provide feedback and information on our trail system and share a story of your trip through our area. Also with this message board the club executive will continue to post up to date information on grooming, trail hazards and conditions so check back often to keep up to date on the trails.
Please see the NEWS / EVENTS page for a complete update.

“ Club president
Mike Barton (on the left), being presented a plaque by incoming President Tim
Bamford for being Grand Lake Sno Cruisers Club President for 10 years.”
On November 2, 2011, Grand Lake Sno Cruisers Snowmobile Club held their annual meeting . The excellent turn out of Club members was much appreciated and a show of high interest in our local club. Election of Club officers was conducted with the following people being elected: Tim Bamford - President; Sam Williams - Vice- President; Dale Chase - Secretary; Kevin Bailey - Treasurer.(click here for more info on the Executive)The past Club officers were thanked for their contribution to the Club. Mike Barton, Past President, who held the position for 10 years, was presented with a plaque.
MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
This Meeting was different from most as the membership gathered to elect a new executive, something that had not been done in a number of years due to the dedication of these individuals.
Our
now past President Michael Barton had announced his resignation in September to
be effective for this November and shortly thereafter we suffered the loss of
long time friend and dedicated executive member, our Treasurer, Harold Barton.
We all owe them a debt as their many years of service has made this club what
it is today. As we move forward with some new executive members, I hope that we
carry on with the same calibre of dedication, motivation and love for the sport
as our departing members.
I am pleased to report that the meeting on the evening of Nov 2 was very well attended from all reaches of the Grand Lake Area. The club the last few years has enjoyed a growth in support in both membership and volunteer support. We now have a membership of approximately 200 members. The network of adopt-a-trail volunteers are busy with trail maintenance, such as brush cutting and bridge repairs and signage. This work will continue right up to the start of grooming. Trail signs have been ordered and should be available in the near future. Any volunteers interested in helping with this work can contact any club officer. A lengthy discussion occurred on the desire to upgrade our grooming equipment. It was decided that the best alternative would be to put the 1993 Gilbert tractor up for sale and begin looking for a replacement tractor. Our goal is to always be in a position to provide well groomed trails and to do this it is necessary to maintain and at times, replace aging equipment.
Provincial Lottery tickets are now available. For every ticket sold at $10.00, the Club keeps $7.00. This is good fund raiser for the clubs and more info is available on the NBFSC website. Tickets are available from club executives. Don’t forget to obtain your trail pass at the reduced price by Dec. 15! Also, please remember to support your club when you get your passes from Service New Brunswick by indicating your club ….#70 when you purchase the pass. This is how we make sure your money comes back to the area in which you ride. The club volunteer support is overwhelming, simply put, the club would not be able to function in the capacity it does without this. As your new incoming executive, it is rewarding to work with such an enthusiastic group. Part of our mandate will be to work with this and continue to improve the sport that we all love in our area. When comparing our section of New Brunswick to others, I strongly feel ours is second to none!!
This year we are going to see positive change to our sport. All groomers in the province are going to be equipped with GPS tracking units. This is going to provide the data needed for an interactive map on the Federation Website (www.nbfsc.com). This map will show you trail status of when the trails in your area were last groomed. These systems will also include a “man down” button that can be initiated from inside the tractor to allow for operator safety. The other spin off will obviously be updated mapping for the entire province.
We look forward to the upcoming season, and are actively planning some fun filled events. Please keep checking the website for updates. If anyone has any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to call or email. If you are interested in helping out on the trails in your area we would love to hear from you!
Tim Bamford
